My Travel Story

by: Jess Givens Start Date: May 2, 2016 - End Date: Jun 1, 2016
If you've met me before, you know that I am happiest when I'm meeting people and doing conservation-related things.

 A little bit about me:

I am from Los Angeles, CA studying Conservation Biology & Ecology at Arizona State University. I am the president of the Central AZ Chapter of the Society for Conservation Biology, Executive Director & Co-Founder of Nature@ASU, and Fellow in the School of Life Science Undergraduate Research Program.

This summer I will be travelling to South Africa to work on a "Big 5" Game Reserve (home to elephants, lions, black rhinos, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, wildebeest, buffalo and antelope). I will be helping out on on-going research projects including:

Black & White Rhino Research & Relocation Programs

Big Cat & Predator Monitoring

Elephant Population Monitoring

And other wildlife research studies on site.

I hope to bring back these experience to my senior year and inspire our students to travel and gain field-experience in a natural research setting. However, I need your help fundraising!

As a token of thanks, I will be filming a video about my travels (I promise the song won’t be by Toto). Any amount is a great gesture of support and will go so far in helping me get to South Africa, thank you all so much!
