My Travel Story

Hi friends and family!!!

I am excited to share my commitment to volunteering through IVHQ (International Volunteer HQ) on a trip to Tanzania, Africa!!! I will stay in the city of Arusha, Tanzania January 1st to - 14th, 2024. I will stay in a volunteer house alongside fellow volunteers from across the globe, all with one mission: a passionate drive to improve access to healthcare for vulnerable people. In Arusha, the prescense of healthcare is very limited and not easily accessible or affordable. Often times, It is not available at all. I will work alongside other volunteer assistants and doctors to provide tender care to these individuals, families, and children. It has been a lifelong desire of mine to love on, and care for people who do not even know what proper medical assistance is. Africa has always been on my heart since my church started supporting disadvantaged communities in Kenya, which will be just north of where I am staying.

After working at the number one hospital for the last few months, my heart has become so open and softened to the world outside of mine. I have grown up in a priveleged lifestyle of having a top, expertise health care that is so easily accessible, and I want to bring a small glimpse of that to this community. Mayo has gaven me many opportunities to learn, grow, and see the deep passions in my heart. I have found a new love for medicine that I cannot wait to share with these people that I will be blessed to take care of. This trip will be an investment in my future, as I am applying for Physician Assistant programs within the next few years. This amazing trip will help prepare me to start PA school. The diverse culture will help open my eyes to a whole new world of medicine, which I am excited to see.

I am asking for support and donations in any kind of way to make this process more smooth. As this is a sacrifice for my time and work schedule, any amount of donation would be much appreciated. The estimated total cost I am looking to raise is a little over $4,000 to cover flights and the program’s cost. Your support would also help to fund my local expenses such as hospital materials, transportation/bus rides to the hospital, and personal safety products (food, water, and medicine).
