My Travel Story

I am a second year Canadian student from Ontario who's living and studying in Alberta. I'm already far away from home, and I'm about to go even further! After months of applications and paperwork, I have finally been approved to study abroad in Holland from January to the end of May 2023!!! This has been a dream of mine for years. My entire family is second-generation Dutch, and I will be studying very close to where my Opa grew up. I'm so excited to connect with my roots. My Dutch heritage has always been an extremely important part of growing up, from speaking/understanding the language to cooking/baking to various traditions that we've loved carrying on.

I'm also beyond excited about this opportunity for the educational possibilities. Holland is a place where my historical/artistic/musical ambitions and passions are extremely important, and I can't wait to immerse myself in the local musical/artistic cultures.

I am nervous about all the changes I'm about to experience, but I'm also very excited. When I told my parents that I'd been approved, my dad said he'd always known I would be the one to go abroad and explore and experience all the diverse cultures Europe has to offer. It'll be a big change, but I'm determined to meet it head-on!
