First Generation student goes abroad!
My Travel Story
Hey, my name is Kathrin and I'm a first-generation student who wants to go abroad. What does that mean? So, my parents never studied and worked their whole life since they were teenagers without thinking of going to a university. For them, going abroad is unnecessary, but I think it is super important to get out of your comfort zone and experience something new! I decided to go to South America because I'm really curious about other cultures and I would love to learn Spanish - I already did in High School - ut if you never "use" it, it's tough! I will do one semester abroad at the Universidad Austral de buenos aires. Coming from a little village with less than 1000 citizens over 15 million will be pretty exciting!
I have always possessed this increased passion for learning new things and constantly developing myself. In today's fast-paced world, characterized by technology and international competition, I am convinced that flexibility and resilience are the most important prerequisites for success as a female manager and for shaping the future. For this, a semester abroad in a foreign country will be a huge new challenge, also considering the economic state in BA and especially the university offers the possible resources and opportunities.
Also the high Inflation (>50%!) in Argentina is making it more expensive for me then I thought and I have to invest more to live in a more safe area. And the Spanish course is not even included :(
I would appreciate if you could helpme financing my semester abroad - I will send everyone that donates a postcard (hopefully in fluent Spanish after the 4 months!
Gracias :)
