My Travel Story

by: Becky Button Start Date: Mar 9, 2016 - End Date: Mar 8, 2017
SLV is an organisation dedicated to helping local communities who are in need of support to grow. SLV has now been operating for 6 years after being founded by a graduate from Manchester University and continues to be ran by psychology graduates.

Sri Lanka does not have the same level of health care as we experience in the Western world and mental health especially is not paid attention to in the same way that it is here. In the summer of 2017 I will be joining a group of other psychology students and as a group we will provide support in psychiatric facilities, rehabilitation centres, teaching youths and more.

As a volunteer I am expected to pay my own fees, flights, vaccinations and more, any money raised by this page would be used to contribute toward those things. So far I have paid £700 and my parents £250, leaving £800 placement fee left along with other expenses.

I have put together this page to reach out to people who share the same kind of principles as I do who may be able to help. Any help would be greatly appreciated and for those who would like to view my progress I have a Facebook page where I will be posting updates which I will add a link to below.
