My Travel Story

When my husband and I planned our wedding, we never thought everything would come to a screeching halt less than a week from our big day.

The day I was supposed to pick up my wedding dress from the tailor, the United States went into lock down due to COVID-19. We lost all of our desposits and all of the time we spent planning. I honestly think I still have all of the flower vases I purchased somewhere in the garage.

Our initial plan for our honeymoon was to take a delayed one, to give us time to get funds in order. This way we weren't stressed about saving for the wedding AND travel on top of that. Naturally, since the global pandemic lasted as long as it did, we weren't able to do that either. To compound our issues, my husband was diagnosed with chronic gall bladder inflammation that required him to have a drain off tube installed for months before he was able to have his surgery. He told me that on the first day, enough had drained off to fill a 16 oz soda bottle, far more than should be in there.

Thankfully, where there's a will there's a way. In June of 2020, we were able to secure a courthouse date and be married that way. It wasn't our dream wedding where we were able to share our happiness with friends and family, but we had each other. Let me tell you, I never thought I'd be wearing a mask and a veil at the same time.

Until this point, we still haven't had an actual honeymoon. Too many set backs have happened as we try to move forward from the pandemic. It would mean the world to us to have the chance for a moment of relaxed happiness.
