My Travel Story

by: Ellie Libby Start Date: Jul 12, 2024 - End Date: Oct 14, 2024
Hello, my name is Ellie Libby, an octogenarian who recently celebrated my 80th birthday in June. I am reaching out to you with a heartfelt request for assistance in realizing a long held dream. Despite years of planning and careful saving, I find myself lacking sufficient funds to undertake a 5,000-mile journey from my home in central Kansas to New England, where I hope to fulfill both personal aspirations and familial obligations. This long awaited trip holds deep significance for me as it presents an opportunity to reconnect with family, revisit treasured memories, and fulfill the final wish of my late brother.

This year, I am determined to finally make this venture a reality. Time is of the essence, and I worry that if this does not materialize for me now, it may never come to fruition.

I feel a strong desire to visit my grandchildren in Massachusetts and finally meet my seven young great-grandchildren whom I have yet to hold in my arms. Additionally, I bear the weighty resposability of interring my brother Philp’s ashes on Deer Isle, Maine with our parents and ancestors.

The distances between destinations make a road trip the most practical way to reach my various destinations. My savings alone will not cover the expenses, posing a financial barrier without some assistance.

This journey is of immense importance as it will take me through Pennsylvania to vsit with Philip’s family, western Massachusetts where 6 of my great grandchildren are and on to my native Boston, through New Hampshire to visit firends and family then deep into Northern Maine to our family cemetery to honor my late brother Philip’s final wish by laying his ashes to rest in our family burial ground on Deer Isle, where our parents, grandparents, and numerous other relatives have been interred. A military funeral has been arranged to pay tribute to Philip’s dedicated service in the armed forces. This act of closure and commemoration carries significant weight in providing comfort to my heart and will hold profound meaning for both me and our family.

I will be accompanied by my youngest son, Drew, who will take on the responsibility of driving and ensuring our safety. Our plans include a visit to Scarborough, Maine for the annual Libby family reunion and to see the historical site of John Libby, the founder of Scarborough and the first member of the Libby family to arrive in the New World in 1630. This trip will provide my son with an opportunity to connect with his ancestral roots and strengthen his ties to his heritage. This voyage will serve as a poignant reminder that it is never too late to pursue aspirations and forge new memories with loved ones.

Your support will bring immense joy and fulfillment to an 80-year-old great grandmother by assisting with the practical expenses for a long-awaited journey to reunite with family. Your contribution will enable the creation of cherished memories and the enjoyment that comes from reconnecting with loved ones. Your assistance is sincerely valued, as your generosity has the potential to transform this dream trip into a reality. Thank you for considering my request and being a part of making this dream come true.
