"Do or Do not. There is no try." The Journey to England
My Travel Story
At Depauw, I worked in many plays and short films and have also worked backstage constructing sets used in the play helping me become more familiar with what happens backstage and what it takes to make a production happen. I also got an incredible opportunity in my junior year to study abroad with FIE ( Foundation for International Education) working as a stage manager at Pentameter Theater in London, England where I oversaw the set up of plays and open mics. I not only got experience in college but also outside as well: working on a music video, doing a commercial, and doing some jobs as an extra continuing to make connections and gain as much experience and knowledge.
Financially I come from a hard-working middle-class background and always worked hard to get scholarships and full rides to help pay my tuition. My parents are always working hard to help give my siblings and me a better education and overall future than they had. Being Mexican-American and first generation always pushed me to succeed and do the best I can in the classroom to make sure their hard work pays off. The opportunity to attend a summer program in London, England with Performing Arts Abroad would help me continue to gain knowledge and experience in the arts and grow as a person as well.
