Life took a devastating turn for our family when my 21-year-old son, Dayton was involved in a motorcycle accident that left him paralyzed. In an instant, our world shifted, and the past several months have been a blur of hospital stays, worry, and separation. As a single mom living paycheck to paycheck with my four amazing children – Dayton,Austin, Houston and Brynlee – this has been an unimaginable challenge.
My younger boys have stepped up in incredible ways, working to help me keep our household afloat while I’ve been by Dayton's side in the hospital. Their support has been my lifeline, and our bond as a family is stronger than ever.
Now, Dayton is finally home, embarking on a new and difficult journey. He’s trying to be strong, but I see the pain and guilt he carries. His dream was to work hard, save, and one day take us all on a trip to Colorado – a dream now seemingly out of reach due to his paralysis and inability to work.
**I have a new dream: to surprise Dayton with a trip that will reignite his hope and motivation.** A chance for us all to be together, away from the constant reminders of our new reality, to create new memories and show him that life, while different, can still hold joy and adventure.
