From Sacrifice to Dream: A Single Mom’s Journey to See the World

My name is Andrea Kelly. I’m a single mom, a giver at heart, and someone who’s always put others before myself. For years, I’ve worked hard to support my family and to be a helping hand for those in need — whether it was a friend going through tough times, or someone else struggling just a little more than me. But now, for the first time, I’m asking for help.
I’ve always had a dream: to see the world.
To walk through streets I’ve only seen in photos. To stand on beaches that seem like paradise. To learn from other cultures, meet new people, and feel the kind of joy that comes from experiencing life beyond your own zip code. But like so many single parents, life hasn’t made that easy. Bills come first. My child comes first. Everyone else comes first.
The truth is, I’ve never had the means to travel. Not because I lacked the desire, but because I’ve always prioritized survival over dreams. Rent, groceries, school supplies, emergencies — they all came before plane tickets and passports.
But I’ve reached a point in my life where I realize: I matter, too. My dreams deserve a chance, too. And maybe, just maybe, it’s okay to ask for a little help in making them come true.
I’m not looking for luxury. I’m not chasing five-star hotels or expensive tours. I’m chasing freedom. I’m chasing peace. I’m chasing moments that remind me who I am outside of my responsibilities — moments that I can carry in my heart, and share with my child as a reminder that it’s never too late to go after what you want in life.
