My Travel Story

My heart aches for my family that is facing an extraordinary challenge. My 17-year-old niece had neuroblastoma as a young child and battled through it, but sadly it has returned. She now faces an intensive treatment plan at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC. The treatment plan includes chemotherapy, radiation therapy, stem cell harvesting, and transplant surgery, along with immunotherapy. On top of this, her youngest sister, who is five years old, has Cerebral Palsy and requires ongoing medical support and surgeries. Her parents have six children in total, and it's been a struggle to manage the needs of both daughters while trying to survive and get through everyday life. Our friends are a true beacon of light and inspiration. Despite their difficult circumstances, they remain positive, smiling, and optimistic. They are always the first to offer a helping hand to those in need, and they never ask for anything in return. They'll need to travel for treatment every other week indefinitely. The cost of care adds up so quickly, along with transportation, lodging, and meals. They cannot do it alone, and we are calling on the village.
