My Travel Story

Hello and thank you for visiting my page!

Next summer I will be going on a volunteering trip to the Volta region in Ghana with my school as part of a programme run by African Adventures. My main roles will be a teaching assistant/ working on construction in local Ghanaian schools. We will be planning lessons, teaching the children, playing with the children at breaktime, also we will be assisting with building classrooms, developing their appeal by painting walls and adding eductaional decoration to classrooms, furthermore, we will be installing neccesities in the schools, such as toilets. This experience will not only bring a physical change to the community, but will enahnce the opportunities that the children have in order to succeed in their futures.

This is a unique trip for me because it is the first time that I've been outside of the UK without my family, away for 11 nights, so it will be an exceptional chance for me to develop my self-awareness and consideration for my surroundings. As I will be going to Ghana, with new sights, smells, cusine, people and a new atmosphere, my sense of exploration will be out of this world. It is an adventure and I will certainly be in awe of the culture. We will also be going to Cape Coast for a weekend to further understand Ghanaian  history and culture, I may also get to see my favorite animal, the monkey!

My motivation for going on this trip is because it's fun and I want to take advantage of this opportunity I don't believe I will be offered again during my education. Volunteering in a country accross the world is exciting and I am honoured that I will be able to make a difference to the lives of Ghanaians, that I would not have met otherwise. I believe that I'll develop personally, (through cultural acceptance, respect for others and happiness). The part I am most anticipating is meeting and talking to the children.

Thank you for understanding my cause! Please help by spreading the word!
