My Travel Story

by: Maria Cerdio L Start Date: May 12, 2018 - End Date: Aug 9, 2018
I am increadibly excited about being offered the opportunity to gain professional work experience as an applied anthropologist. I will be travelling to Andhra Pradesh, India for a 2-month field research placement with Bridge International Academies. Bridge partners with governments, communities, teachers and parents to deliver evidence based quality education for primary and pre-primary school children in India and Africa.

My role will consist of working alongside the in-country insights and strategy team to conduct research in diverse local communities. I will be involved in specific projects including understanding local families' expectations and what is meaningful to them, and how to enhance students' learning experience. The insights generated from this research will be used to develop interventions that can be scaled at the global level. The core purpose of my work will be to generate deep understanding of people that can be used to strengthen Bridge's strategy and increase their impact

This will be challenging work that will help me gain vital experience and will allow me to put my studies into practice for an amazing cause. I will be able to develop my knowledge and aquire skills that are essential for my future career in International Development and Social Policy. The training I gain will enable me to desgn and apply qualitative research, analyse data, and design and test interventions. I am especially eager to learn about a new culture culture and help children access high-quality education.

But...this is an unpaid internship which represents a HUGE cost that I cannot afford on my own.  PLEASE donate whatever you can to help me take this incredible opportunity, every little makes a difference.

Best wishes and thank you for your kindness,

Maria
