My Travel Story

In June of 2022 I will be embarking on a teaching internship in Thailand in order to complete the credits needed to obtain my degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL)!

I had really been struggling with hearing God's voice and where He wanted me to be career-wise but He has been incredibly faithful throughout my journey and has given me a chance to go out amongst the nations. I was never one of those people who knew exactly what I wanted to be when I grew up, and often times this put an immense amount of pressure on my shoulders, especially as I was nearing college entrance time. Unsure of what career I truly wanted to pursue, I applied to Liberty University as a Global Studies major. However, it became clear through time that this was not what He wanted for me.

I grew up with a love for anything related to English, whether it be reading or writing my own short stories. It was the one skill I possessed that I felt 100% confident in, I suppose I should call it a gift as it seems to be what God has given me to reach the nations. I had been in the middle of worship at my parent's church when I felt a wave of peace wash over me, the warm embrace of it had me slipping my eyes closed to encounter an image that still brings tears of happiness and yearning every time I think back on it. He gave me an image of a classroom where I was knelt down on the floor, my hands sprawled across the ground as I prayed, tears overflowing and voice cracking, over the people that would walk into that room. That is when I truly understood why God had given me such a love for the English language. English has become the most desirable language to learn, especially in second and third world countries as it opens up more opportunities for higher-paying jobs. Learning English is becoming an increasingly more valuable skill to the Thai people as it increases their opportunities for finding work or work that provides higher wages. Tourism in Thailand contributes to more than 20% of the countries GDP, making it a hot spot for those seeking jobs.

I have the wonderful opportunity to try and help these beautiful people gain skills that could be incredibly useful to them, while also shining the love and light of the Lord on them. I am so excited to kickstart my teaching career and would be so grateful to any help given. All money raised will go towards the costs associated with the internship along with the fundraising fee! Thank you so much for reading!
