For many Filipinos, traveling to Boracay, despite being a domestic destination, feels like an impossible luxury. With the rising cost of basic necessities, stagnant wages, and limited financial opportunities, the thought of setting aside funds for a vacation often takes a backseat to the urgent need to make ends meet. Even the most affordable travel deals can seem out of reach when families are forced to stretch every peso to cover food, utilities, and education. The dream of bringing my family to experience the pristine white sands and clear blue waters of Boracay feels distant, knowing that the cost of airfare, accommodations, and meals could easily drain months of hard-earned savings. It’s painful to think that something as simple as a trip to our own country’s paradise remains beyond our grasp — a reminder of the widening gap between the country's economic struggles and the simple joys we long to share.
