My Travel Story

Dear Madam, dear Sir,
I am writing you this letter in addition to express my greatest desire to spend an exchange year in Finland that YFU provides for Bulgarian students.
As a foreign language student, I believe that this opportunity will prove to me not only an unforgettable experience, but also an invaluable opportunity to learn about Finnish school system, because it's well known that it is one of the best in the world. 
There is something about traveling that opens your eyes in a way that cannot be achieved through even the most extensive study of textbooks or pictures. Coming from a rather small town in Bulgaria, I grew up with a very small-town view of the world, which I hope to continue to expand as I travel not only to Finland, but other countries as well. This study abroad opportunity will allow me not only to fully immerse myself in a different culture with many diverse views, it will also teach me to understand my own perspectives. I believe this exchange program will give me the tools I need to become a better citizen of the world. 
The pandemic almost took away my hope that I could spend a whole year so far from home with all the everyday changing circumstances, but it didn't stop me. In spite of this I applied to YFU for the program and surprisingly for me, I was approved, and even more, won a scholarship, BUT unfortunately the entire cost is still impossible for a Bulgarian family, especially one with divorced parents like mine, because of this I am forced to seek funds from donors such as you.
I believed in myself and already started, but whether I will continue is up to you. And I sincerely ask you if my story has managed to touch you, even a little, to donate me a sum according to your abilities. In these difficult times, any assistance in money or kind could be life-changing for me. Thank you for the opportunity to share my dream with you and look forward to supporting its implementation.
