My Travel Story

I am a high school student who is going to volunteer in Portugal for 2 weeks. I will be volunteering in a local animal shelter there through the IVHQ program. I have always loved traveling and learning about new cultures and I figured this was one of the best possible ways to do that. Not only can I make and impact on the local community there, but I will be able to discover Portugal's culture on a closer level so I can really experience what it's like to be a local. Also, through this program I can meet other volunteers with a large diversity of backgrounds, worldviews, and experiences so I will be able to widen my perspectives on the world. I hope this trip will inspire my future career in some way and motivate me to volunteer more in my community as well as communities.
