Hi, I'm Mollie from Eugene, Oregon, and in September 2017 I will be Living with Big Cats!

"Blessed are the curious, for they shall have adventures."
- Lovelle Drachman

For me, it all started with a dog. Her name was Teo and her first impression of me was probably somewhere along the lines of, "someone please shut the tiny human up, all it does is scream and poop."
None the less that dog would go on to become my best friend, my protector, and perhaps the reason for one passion that would follow me the rest of my life; my love of animals.

Fast forward a few years and I'm the little girl who patrols the long driveway, always on the lookout for creatures who need rescuing. Luckily, my mother never complained about the multitude of injured baby birds I snuck into our house in my attempt at nursing them back to health.

Well, I've come a long way from that little girl who cried and refused to speak to her cat for a week when a dead mouse showed up on the back porch. But one thing has never changed, and that's my love of animals.

In the past year I've learned a lot about myself, what it means to be happy, and where I fit in to this crazy adventure called life. It took a lot of mistakes, a lot of heartbreaks and even more nights where I stayed up until 3am wondering what the hell the point of it all was, but finally I think I'm starting to understand.
Life has never been about the career you land, how much money you make, or the size of your house. You can learn a lot in a classroom, but you can learn just as much by experiencing things and talking to people to hear their stories. And finally, happiness is unique to each and every one of us, and there is no right way to do life.

I've decided that my "right" way to life is to physically see the changes I can make. Sitting in a classroom wasn't making me happy, but volunteering was. Seeing the world was. Talking to people and making conncections was. Giving back was.
So, I'm saying to hell with everyones expectations and I'm pursuing the things that bring me joy. My South Africa adventure is my next great chapter, and I'm so excited to share it with everyone!

My departure date is set for September 4th, 2017. So from now until then I'm putting all my effort into funding the cost of this trip. I made this page because I could use all the help I could get, and I truly mean it when I say that every cent means the world to me. Getting to this point in my life would not be possible without the incredible support of my family, friends, and community.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and for rooting for me throughout all my ups and downs!

Never ever EVER stop dreaming,
Lots of love,
Mollie
