My Travel Story

안녕하세요

(HI!),

My name is Zubrette Reeves, and I am currently a first year student at the University of South Carolina majoring in Global Studies!

Ever since I was young, I have had the dream of traveling abroad, as well as helping people out through my love of other cultures. These two dreams have helped start me towards a path for a career in international politics, focusing specifically on the relations between foreign countries, and one of my main goals for my college career is to gain experience not only domestically, but also internationally.

Choosing my first (yes, I intend to do more!) study abroad location was challenging on its own, and pairing that with choosing how long to be abroad made it even more so. After months of looking at different countries, programs, and groups, I have made the choice to spend my Summer 2019 at Chonnam National University in Gwangju, South Korea!

My month long trip will be spent studying Contemporary Korean History and the Korean Language, as well as excursions such as visiting Seoul (the capital of South Korea) to seeing the DMZ (the area between North and South Korea).

I have been extremely lucky and grateful to be nominated for, and be awarded, a scholarship that covers my living and tuition costs, which really helped push this forward for me. But, sadly, I can’t teleport! I still need to raise money for airfare, as well as other transportation. This makes my goal $1,500, which covers a small amount of travel costs, though every dollar helps!
