1 on 1 apprenticeship with a 6th generation ceramics master!
My Travel Story
My name is Jake O’Connor and I just graduated Cum Laude from Furman University. My passion in life is ceramics and I have been connected with a 6th generation ceramics master who is willing to take me on as an apprentice for all of 2025. My ultimate goal is to come back to the US for grad school and be able to teach the things I learn in Japan at a high school or university level. Yamaguchi Sensei is unable to provide housing or payment and I will not be able to take advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity without some form of aid. I am working to be able to travel to Japan but supporting myself for a year is where things become less feasible.
If there is any possibility of some form of help I would be committed to sharing this ancient craft for the rest of my career.
Best regards,
Jake O’Connor
