This January, I’ll travel to Thailand for a three-month teaching placement. I chose Thailand because I wanted to experience a completely different culture from Belgium and discover new teaching methods and educational perspectives that I can apply in my future career as a teacher.

Education in non-Western countries fascinates me. I’m eager to learn how teaching and learning take place there, and which positive practices I can bring back home.

During my stay, I’ll be teaching children and fully immersing myself in Thai culture, learning from the community as much as I’ll be giving back. This experience will not only help me grow as a teacher but also as a person who values openness, adaptability, and cultural understanding.

I’m Fien, and I’m studying to become a primary school teacher. For my final internship, I’ll be doing my placement in Thailand, which is a very unique experience for me. I’m organizing everything completely on my own, together with the organization.

It’s definitely not cheap. I’m working to cover the costs, but unfortunately it’s still not enough. That’s why I’m trying to raise some extra funds to help cover the organization’s fees and make this experience possible.

I truly love teaching, and I’m very excited to do this in Thailand, discovering a new culture that I hope to bring back into my future teaching career in Belgium.
