Simona and Ana Costa Rica Youth Medical Service Trip
My Travel Story
In February, we will travel to Costa Rica to work alongside local clinics and healthcare organizations serving underserved communities. We will help provide essential medical supplies, support preventative care, and we are also hosting a CPR training event in the U.S before we leave to raise health awareness.
Beyond direct care, one of our core goals is to inspire youth, especially young girls. By bringing a group of female students into this work, we hope to show that despite the time, cost, and dedication required, a future in medicine and healthcare is both possible and powerful. Representation matters, and we want young students to see themselves as future healthcare leaders!
This mission is deeply personal to both of us. Simona lives with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) which has allowed her to seen how much health relies on access to doctors, medications, and care. Ana has worked in Puerto Rico and with NICU nurses to understand the importance of health for young children.
