My Travel Story

by: Emory Lay Start Date: May 24, 2021 - End Date: Jul 7, 2021
Hello Family, Friends & Supporters!

This July, I will be taking a volunteer trip to beautiful South Africa to work at the Wildlife Sanctuary in Hartebeespoort.

This sanctuary serves as a safe haven for orphaned or injured animals that would otherwise not be able to survive on their own. They take in a variety of animals, including elephants, lions, tigers, cheetahs, spotted hyenas, white lions, and hippos, as well as free-range game, such as giraffes, wildebeests, zebras, warthogs, impalas, waterbucks, and the red hartebeest.
I will be there to help with:

Renovating, maintaining, and constructing new enclosures
Assisting with anti-poaching fence patrols
Cleaning, feeding and building new enclosures for the animals

I will be gone for 9 days, not including travel. I will be working everyday morning to night to help educate myself on wildlife conservation and help where I'm needed. I'm so very excited to share this experience and most definitely will be taking many photos!!

This trip is not a vacation for me. It is a chance to help wildlife, explore my passion for animals, and learn. It will be hard work but so rewarding.
Please consider donating to this fantastic trip!! My flight has been taken care of, but any contribution will help me pay for my time there & any additional amount will be donated to the program.

Thank you so much!
