My Travel Story

My name is Kyle Botma, a passionate 16-year-old hockey player with realistic ambitions to someday soon play on the international stage.

I play in the top-ranked South African sport and hockey school, named Paul Roos Gymnasium in Stellenbosch, being a striker and drag-flicker, participating in the top team for my age-group.

I will be traveling to the Netherlands and Belgium during August 2026 to participate in the World Hockey Youth Festival, where our school will play against a number of international teams.

As part of the tour, I will also have the opportunity to see the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 where I will be able to attend the semi-finals and finals of the event. This is the pinnacle of world hockey performance and promise to showcase the greats of hockey from all over the world. 

Apart from being exposed to European culture on my first trip abroad, it will also fuel my passion for the sport with the aim of one day studying in Europe while pursuing the sport I love.

The tour cost approximately 5000 USD and is organised by a reputable and renowned tour agency, fully backed by my school.
