My Travel Story

Hello everyone,
Thank you for visiting my page. My name is Alma Mwangi. Incase you are wondering, that's a photo of me and my nephew and nieces who I care for at home. I'm raising money for my au pair program to Germany. An Au Pair is a young person (female or male) between 17 and 30 years old who stays with a local Host Family, learns their language and culture in exchange for accommodation and pocket money. This will be my first international trip and I want to do this solely on my own without the help of my parents, for once. I am 23 and it’s about time. I also believe it will be more meaningful this way. The contribution will help me cover my au pair travel expenses like visa, plane tickets, insurance. The host family is not obligated to provide this expense. While I’m doing all I can to raise money for this trip, I just can’t do it without you.


I have always wanted to visit Europe since I was 12years old and hope to live there one day together with my family. In preparation, over the last 2years I even started teaching myself German using foreign language apps on my cell phone. My interest started out through number of reasons like my admiration in their cultural festivals such as Oktoberfest and its rich musical heritage with composers like Beethoven. One thing I love most about Germany and I can't wait to try is their delicious cuisine, including sausages, pretzels and variety of beers. Must say that I am a foody person but l'll pass on the beer because i don't drink. There are afew things that are unique to Germany that i hope to experience should I receive the required donation. Their historic landmarks like the Berlin Wall, automobile industry; Germany is home to some of the world's most famous car manufacturers, like BMW, Mercedes-Benz. The country is also known for its music and literature, producing some of the greatest composers and writers in history, including Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. 

I have always been fascinated by different cultures and have a strong desire to explore the world. Becoming an au pair and living with a German host family is an incredible opportunity for me to fulfill my dreams. Not only will it allow me to experience life in Europe, but it will also provide me with a unique chance to immerse myself in Germanic culture and forge meaningful connections with my host family.
