Chasing Adventure... and a Two-Year-Old
My Travel Story
Crossing into Colorado, the Rockies open up before us — Sprague Lake, Garden of the Gods, and the long stretch toward the Badlands reminding us how vast and varied this country really is. The Black Hills bring their own magic: the 1880 Train in Hill City, the quiet reverence of Mount Rushmore, the wildlife roaming freely in Custer State Park. And then comes the heart of the journey — Yellowstone and Grand Teton — where geysers, hot springs, and mountain lakes become the backdrop to days that feel suspended in time.
As we turn westward, Zion’s red canyons, Bryce’s hoodoos, and the desert stillness of Joshua Tree offer a different kind of beauty — rugged, ancient, grounding. And finally, the trip crescendos in California: the bright lights of Los Angeles, the wonder of Disneyland for a two‑year‑old seeing magic up close, and the salty breeze of Santa Monica carrying us toward the end of this chapter.
Through every national park, every long drive, every snack‑powered meltdown, and every shared sunrise, this journey becomes a love letter to family — to showing up, to wandering together, and to holding tight to the fleeting, extraordinary moments that only happen when life slows down long enough to notice them.
