My Travel Story

by: Tamsin Hooker Start Date: Feb 9, 2017 - End Date: Jun 8, 2017
My name is Tamsin, I am sixteen years old and the thought of travelling to Ghana with a group of people who I don't know is scary! But the excitement of maybe changing people's lives and adding advantages to those not as lucky as myself makes me want this more than anything. The trip is in 2018, I will be supporting children in a school aged 5 to 16. I was offered this opportunity by Kent Scouting to volunteer and make a difference along side with African Adventures.
By going to Ghana, I will be sharing the skills that I have been lucky enough to have gained through the clubs and family experiences that I have  been involved with.
This trip is a chance for me to share what I am passionate about and to make a positive difference to many individuals. I feel privileged to be going and would like to be able to get schools in the local community involved by writing letters and possibly by getting the children in Ghana to write back so I can show schools in the local area the difference between our culture and theirs. I would like to thank you for reading this however I also hope that you understand the reasons for me going, which are to help and socialise with people of a different life style to us.
