My Travel Story

Greeting (はじめまして), my name is Zach (私はザックです.). I honestly have no idea what I should put here, but I will try my best. So, what and why am I here asking for strangers for their generosity and kindness? Well, I have a dream, more so a goal, but a goal I can not achieve all by myself. It's a dream that others might have as well. Basically, I wish to study abroad in Japan for a semester. Why is this a dream some might ask. As someone who has always been interested in Japanese culture, and learning the language, it is something I have always dreamed of doing. I never though I would have that opportunity, especially with me attending a Community College. Then it appeared. Like a beacon, a sign, a flyer confirming a Study Abroad to Kyoto for the 2024 Fall semester. Circling back for a second, being from South California, there isn't too many opportunities to speak Japanese, and if you have ever studied a new language, the best way to learn it and more importantly retain it, is to speak it. Having the opportunity to go abroad and use what I've learned is an opportunity I can not pass up. Also, I just think it is important to have something a study abroad on a transcript. I believe having this on my record will help pave a path for a future in my major, business. I am hoping, that with speaking a completely different language, paired with experiencing their culture first hand will help put me ahead of others when it comes to internship opportunities or college selections in the future. Now, enough with the yapping. I will get to the part you all are interested in knowing. How will the funds be used? Well, for starters, just getting in. The deadline for the deposit is in June, and the deadline for all of the funds is in July. 4 and a half months away. I have some money of my own, but nowhere near enough to get the funds by July. It is almost an impossible ask for someone who is a Full Time Student and Full Time employee who pays for rent and bills every month. So that is where you all come in. Now, if we get past that part and are in, then naturally it will go to the plane ticket. I am still trying to think of a way to repay all of you for your kindness if the goal is reached. I will definitely be posting photos every day and might do a vlog everyday, but if you all have any ideas please feel free to let me know. Again, thank you for your time in just reading this.
