My Travel Story

Wow y'all here I am just 4 months away from what I suspect will be the most life changing adventure of my life!

It all began a little over 4 months ago when God called my son and I to baptism. To follow was a whirlwind of some rather drastic and life changing events. One of which was Gods calling on my life to resign my teaching career and be led into what He was calling me to. This led to many restless nights of attempting to barter and compromise with God to just reveal to me my next job and then I would resign. But you see God revealed to me that requires no faith, faith is stepping boldly into the unknown and resting in the assurance that He will provide. So being somewhat stubborn I again attempted to manipulate the situation and spent many evenings looking for jobs only to be left feeling defeated and unfulfilled each time. It would be shortly after that God would place the concept of 'missions teaching' on my heart. During this time God would put a stirring in my heart for giving away many of my belongings (things I had clung to for years) and a longing almost desperation for closeness and time with my boys. One day a vision came to me of women in Africa carrying buckets of water on their head for miles each day just so their children would have water to drink. This vision rocked my world! To know there were women in a part of the world who give of themselves so selflessly to their children. I grappled with the issue of sending mine off to school each morning feeling rushed and with a breakfast of convenience. I realized these women had nothing materially at all, yet they had everything I wanted. The followng weekend this trip would be introduced at church. I wept for I hadn't even known that we had a ministry in Africa. 

So today this is where I stand! Eager, excited, and obedient to Gods calling. I created shirts to represent what this trip means for me. The logo is simple, driven by an appreciation for the simplicity of life I hope to gain from my time in Uganda. On it are three iniatives that I hope to accomplish while there...
Profess the word to the villagers
Love the villagers with a Christ like love
Glean from the people of the village. I feel such an incredible pulling on my heart to share my love with these people, but greater is my desire to learn from them.
