My Travel Story

I am Timothy, I go by Lucy. I'm a cyclist. Me and my dog (Champagne) are setting out to see America. I once had a plan to travel the world. It did not reach funding, so I am setting up this trip as a trial run for the possibility of more extended travel. I have always loved cycling. I see cycling as a tool for understanding one another. I also see cycling as a tool for addressing important global issues, such as climate change. Bringing awareness to cycling while bringing people together through my journey is my goal.  Champagne is a five year old chocolate lab. He weighs 80 lbs. Champ has hip dysplasia, but I always promised him he will see the pacific ocean.  I have had my share of struggles too. When I was 18 I had a BMX accident and suffered and traumatic brain injury, among other bodily injuries. I have had my battles with mental health aswell, struggling with ADHD since childhood. I am using this as an outlet and I hope it ultimately leads to a path of growth. So, we are starting our journey. I will happily provide updates to our trip through photos anywhere I can on this site, including my social media. If we reach our complete goal, we will be able to make it to South America, specifically Peru. We will start out from our house in Columbus and finish as far as we are able to go!  The funding for this project will go toward vaccination and health care, equipment, food, showers and the occasional warm bed. 

This is a physically challenging journey. Both extreme heat and bitter cold. The added weight and care of a dog make it that much more challenging. Wildlife is always somewhat of a threat to materials and my dog. There is the ever present danger of traffic. Not to mention the state of the world. Champagne and I will be spending a week at a time on our own, self sufficient.
