Hello everyone!

I'm Holden Teillon and I'm junior in high school in Suwanee, Georgia.

I'm starting to think about what I want to study in college and what I want to work on after college, and I think I'm interested in environmental issues and renewable energy.  I was looking for a summer program where I could volunteer, work on my Spanish and also learn something about solar panels. I found the perfect program with Green Life Volunteers Solar Power Project in Puerto Jimenez, Costa Rica.

In late July, I will head down to Puerto Jimenez for two weeks to learn about solar energy, how to build solar panels and how to install them. We will end up installing a large solar panel system for an off-the-grid school in the rain forest. We will also educate the local communities about solar energy, and show them how to install, maintain, and build their own solar system. I'm really excited because I will stay with a local family and I will have to speak Spanish.

Traveling to Costa Rica is relatively inexpensive; however, participants in this project pay $1,800 in order to fund the solar panels for the school. In addition to this, will have about $1,000 in additional travel and sundry costs. I'm hoping to raise at least half of this ($1,400) with your kind donations.

Thanks so much for your help! I'll send pics!
