My Travel Story

by: Hajar Skouri Start Date: Aug 21, 2023 - End Date: Aug 20, 2024
Hello, I am a Moroccan student whose mother passed away this year, and her death left a deep sadness in my heart, and made me depressed, especially since my mother dreamed that I would study a master’s degree outside the country of Morocco and that she would be proud of me. Before her death, she told me not to give up and to achieve that. As a first-year master's student in materials engineering in Morocco, I try as much as possible to balance my studies with my family's financial problems. I have a father and two sisters. In Morocco, it is very difficult and sometimes impossible for a student to work in addition to studying, especially if his class needs many study hours. Wages are very low. While I pour my heart and soul into my studies, the reality of the financial burden and my dream of studying abroad weighs heavily on my mind. As you know the cost of tuition fees, accommodation and other expenses creates a terrible hurdle in my journey. Without adequate financial support, the doors of higher education outside Morocco may remain tightly closed, leaving my dreams unfulfilled. The financial stress is getting worse as everything gets more expensive, and I am trying to make my family and especially my late mother proud, but speaking financially that would result in close to £100,000 which is impossible to pay in my current situation. I am aware of my father's very poor financial capacity. However, it was a struggle for me and my family after the virus period as jobs were lost and family income dropped dramatically. Therefore, I humbly ask that you understand the difficulties of a poor Moroccan student, the situation of my family, and consider extending a helping hand to those in need. By investing in our future, you are investing in a generation of individuals who are eager to learn, grow, and shape a better tomorrow. Together, we can break down the financial barriers that stand in our way and pave the way to success. Thanks to those who have read my story and understood my sad point.
