My Travel Story

The program I will be attending is an International Relations and Arabic immersion program in Meknes, Morocco. As a student of globalization, I spend a lot of time in classrooms learning about different cultures and societies, and how their interaction can promote an increased sense of social order, an increase in global trade, more sustainable practices, and the ability to globalize knowledge. All of these things are ways that we can make the world a better place. However, I strongly believe that the best way to learn about these concepts is through interacting with different cultures myself, and expanding my own knowledge and empathy in this way. This program will strongly enhance the level of education I am able to receive and will make me a better global citizen. 

I am interested in refugee resettlement, and finding sustainable solutions to the countries in crisis. Not only would this program allow me to practice my Arabic speaking skills so as to better communicate with refugees, but it would provide me with a new perspective of the world.

In addition to this being a study abroad, it is also a service-learning program. This means community service is embedded within the program, and I will be partnering with a non-governmental organization that works with the local women to economically empower them and give girls and women the knowledge they need to step outside of the traditional role of housewife if they so choose. Your donation would not only support me, but also the hundreds of women which this program serves. 

I have been working and saving for four years to afford this program, as it is quite expensive. I have saved enough to cover the cost of the program fees but am now asking for donations to help cover my cost of travel. The overall cost is $1500, but I am extremely grateful for any amount that you may be able to provide. Every dollar helps more than you know.
