My Travel Story

Hi I'm Betty. I'm a 62 year old disabled lady looking for help to fund a dental trip to Mexico. I have an immune deficiency that causes the enamel on my teeth to be weak. That means I get cavities easily. I have Medicare because I'm on SSDI, but if you know standard Medicare it doesn't cover dental. My disability income is $7, yes $7!!, above the income level for Medicaid. Meaning I don't have much needed dental coverage. I'm in desperate need of fillings and at least two crowns that I know of. I also need two implants or a bridge.

I'm sure you all are aware of the high cost of dental here in the U.S. Dental insurance coverage has not been upgraded to the rising costs of care. I found out that a couple of people I know have gone to Mexico and received excellent inexpensive care. It would mean the world to me to finally be able to get my teeth taken care of.

I've worked hard my whole life. I've even worked multiple jobs at a time when I needed to. I was a single mom raising two kids on my own after my divorce. I worked hard to make sure they were taken care of. Not working is strange to me. I never thought I'd become disabled, but you never know what the future holds. I've learned that everyone is one accident or illness away from disability.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for your consideration. I'm hoping to get enough to cover travel expenses and dental work which I estimate to be $6,000.
