My Travel Story

by: Luke Stover Start Date: Apr 3, 2019 - End Date: Jan 2, 2020
I studied abroad last Summer to Peru through NC State and lived with a host family there. The trip to Peru granted me unique travel experiences, positively impacted me, and sparked me to study abroad again.  I will be studying at The School for Field Studies (SFS) Center for Climate Studies in Southern Patagonia, Chile for a semester program starting in September.  Although extremely costly, the SFS program is very unique and is one of the largest environmental study abroad programs in the United States. The credits I will take there will transfer back to NC State and count toward my major requirements. The non-traditional destination in the Patagonia mountains is in regions facing critical environmental issues, which I am passionate about. SFS's focus is to use hands-on experiences and field research to study climate change issues to help facilitate sustainable responses to the fragile ecosystems and their impact on the animals and people there. My love of animals and the Earth, along with people from all around the world push me to want to make our planet a better place for future generations. My dream is to one day live in South America in the field of conservation of animal ecosystems and to merge my abilities with my passion for exploring. Our planet is home to an incredible diversity of life. I want to help find meaningful solutions to real environmental problems. I am working to equip myself for a globalized market to work with the next generation of environmental leaders that share my passion to protect the Earth's future. Our actions and choices ultimately make a difference. We all share the responsibility to do whatever we can to help, big or small. Anything helps! If you cannot afford to donate then please SHARE my campaign. Thank you!
