My Travel Story

by: Henric Lindholm Start Date: May 24, 2017 - End Date: May 23, 2018
Dreams can be more than just ideas or hopes, they can shape who we are and make us better persons, by fueling us with will and the ambition necessary to do great things.

Traveling around the world has always been a dream of mine. I used to love making up plans for my future travels, studying the geography of exotic cultures and wondering about how it feels like living someplace else.

All the wonderful places I’ve been to by now have been the result of many efforts and sacrifices. But there is one dream travel I still didn’t manage to accomplish, and that is the one about the Canary Islands. The experience I’m looking for here isn’t the glamorous one we see on the posters at the travel agencies, but one that will stay with me forever, that will help me shape my view of these beautiful islands. I’m crowdfunding because the costs exceed my financial possibilities. By my estimations, I’ll be needing around 1000 dollars for my flights, 500 for accommodation, 400 for transportation, including an autocaravan in Fuerteventura, 400 for basic meals, 100 for entry-fees at the national parks. Here are a few of the highlights of my dream travel in the Canary Islands:

Breathtaking scenery

We all know that the Canary Islands are famous for the dramatic landscape. Amongst the most famous islands of the archipelago are Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. Politically a part of Spain and located in the Atlantic Ocean, the islands are filled with natural wonders, here you can find black and white sand beaches, enjoy a perfect climate and look at some incredible landscapes. These islands have everything: mountains, forests, sand dunes, palm trees, cacti, and the list can go on.

Sleep and drive in Fuerteventura

One of the things I already love about Fuerteventura is the fact that in 2009 it was declared a biosphere reserve by UNESCO. This is a place that can offer tourists unique experiences; here you can find the best waves for surfing, enticing foods and views to die for. My plan is to rent an autocaravan in Fuerteventura, which will give me the opportunity to tailor my own experience here. There is nothing I love more that driving through splendid scenery during the day and gazing and a sky heavy with stars by night.

Hiking and diving

The Canary Islands are the perfect place to spend your days felling like a part of nature. I would love to go hiking every day, breathe in fresh, unpolluted air. There are many natural parks that I can’t wait to see with my own eyes, like the Timanfaya National Park in Lanzarote or El Teide, in Tenerife. The Canary Islands are definitely the perfect place to be if you want to be close to unadulterated nature.

Obviously, water is another key element here, there are numerous beaches that promise you great adventures, here you can practice basically any watersport you can think of, while also being able to embrace the calm that comes with simply bathing in these heartbreaking blue waters.

This travel that I’ve been dreaming for so long will definitely be an experience that will fill my mind and my heart with long lasting memories and it will also mean that a beautiful dream of mine finally came true. These beautiful places are the perfect destination for those who enjoy ecoturism and who love nature at its purest state.
