My Travel Story

As you may know i've been interning in India since January at a village outside of Zahirabad called Biddekana. Initially I was hoping to run a project helping agricultural widows, but after talking with many villagers it emerged that they thought the biggest problems they were facing were traditional farming methods not being passed on to the next generations, and malnutrition amongst the children. So i changed my focus and decided to design and implement a food forest at the local school. Fencing has ben established to keep out the goats and buffalos, and water harvesting earthworks are due to begin soon. My design is done and has been accepted by the school, the village head, and the parents committee. I fell short on my fundraising campaign, only raising 74% of my goal, but managed to get myself here anyway. The internship program winds up on March 20, for two months until the monsoon season arrives, On June 15 we are due back in the village to begin the planting phase once the rain has softened the soil. I still need to raise funds to get back here, i've nothing left to sell. If you are able to help in any small way it would mean so much to the village, the school, and to me as well.
