My Travel Story

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to read this.

I’m reaching out with hope, asking if anyone would find it in their heart to help me give my special-needs daughter the Sweet 16 celebration she truly deserves. Like any child, this is a once-in-a-lifetime milestone, and I wanted it to be meaningful and full of joy for her.

Originally, I planned a traditional Sweet 16 party with all the bells and whistles, but that would only last a few hours. After talking with my daughter, we came up with another idea — a 7 to 8 day cruise. That way, every day she wakes up, it feels like her birthday all over again. She was so excited, and seeing that joy meant everything to me.

Unfortunately, on July 31st, due to government cutbacks, I was laid off from my job. I am now on unemployment and receive no other government assistance. My rent alone is $1,875 a month (or $1,975 if late), not including utilities, food, or other necessities. I’m doing my best to stay afloat, but continuing payments on the cruise has become extremely difficult.
I’ve already put money down, and the balance must be paid by March 4th. I’m scared of losing what I’ve already paid, but even more afraid of having to disappoint my daughter after she’s been so hopeful.

On top of this, I’m dealing with serious physical health issues, especially with my knees. I don’t want to believe it, but this may be one of the last times I’m physically able to walk around and truly enjoy something like a cruise with my daughter. That thought weighs heavily on my heart.
If anyone is able to help in any way — whether through support, sharing, or a contribution — I would be beyond grateful. I’m a single mom, stretched very thin, but trying with everything in me to do something special for my child.

Thank you for your kindness, your time, and your compassion.
With gratitude,

A loving mom
