My Travel Story

by: Maya Somasa Start Date: Sep 23, 2016 - End Date: Jul 17, 2017
I have been given this wonderful oppourtunity to travel voluntarily to Ghana with the African Adventures campaign, helping children living on the poverty line get a better education. Some roles I will undertake during my 10 day stay include: assisting local primary schools with teaching, along with helping first hand to build, paint and refurbish parts of schools and villages; making the local schools look more visually appealing for the 70 children per classroom, per day attending school in 30 degree heat and finally having a chance to interact directly with the school children by coaching them in sports and games!
Though these jobs may seem very minor to privillaged people like you and me, for children who don't even know the meaning of santa, it makes a huge difference!!
However, in order for me to provide my services along with a helping hand to the children of Woe, I will be needing to fundraise a total of £1850 which covers all expenses such as travel costs and accommodation.
Although this figure may seem massive to one, by the help of people like you, this figure could be highly achievable and I would be hugely thankful for any donations- no matter the size- to help me to raise this amount before the 17th of July next year, when I will be departing!!
I am also desperate to attend the trip knowing I have fundraised all 100% of the cost even if it means me sacrificing most of my weekends bag packing in supermarkets and car washing !! If you have any suggestions, fundraising ideas or enquiries, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thankyou so much for all your kindness and support! If you wish to make a donation please click the link below :), thankyou!
