How will you make a difference in the community?
I am currently planning on volunteering abroad spring 2018 in Kiev, Ukraine. While there I will be teaching English to elementary aged students. This program allows for kids in this area to grow up knowing some English which will impact their future immensely. Knowing the English language is extremely important in foreign countries because many of them rely heavily on tourism. Not only that, but it opens job opportunities for them alter on in their life.

Why are you passionate about this project?
I am so passionate about this program because it gives amazing opportunities to not only college aged students but also to the kids in the place they are volunteering. As mentioned above, the English language is one that is used all over the world and holds immense power. Teaching the kids of Ukraine English will give them amazing opportunities in their future that otherwise would be unknown to them. That is the reason why I am doing this. It is to help brighten the futures of those living in Ukraine.

How will this impact your education or career?
I am planning on going into Special Education Severe Needs which means that being able to volunteer abroad teaching English will directly correlate with my future career. Having this experience under my belt will allow me to be a better teacher. Not only that, but I will also be able to figure out my teaching style before I am in an integrated services classroom.
