I am a Community Health Educator in Houston, TX. I studied Human Nutrition & Foods and have a passion for preventative care education. I grew up in South Texas and took 3 years of Spanish in high school and 1 year in college. I have an average comprehension of Spanish but would like to improve both my understanding and speaking abilities. My passion is educating individuals on measures to prevent the development of chronic disease. I have really excelled in this career path in English but would like to also be an effective advocate and resource to Spanish speaking individuals. My goal is to raise funds for a 6 month immersion experience in central Mexico. I have visited before and had an amazing time! I was very confident speaking Spanish and the community was encouraging of my efforts. I believe that through an immersion experience I can build on the foundation I already have in Spanish.
