My Travel Story

by: Elizabeth Keeley Start Date: Nov 4, 2025 - End Date: Nov 3, 2026
Running has been my anchor through some of the hardest moments of my life. When I was 17, my dad passed away. I lost my sense of self, and I struggled to find stability and hope. But running saved my life. I had been running cross country but not really taking it seriously. I started using running as a way to cope with grief, stress, and the mental health challenges I was facing. At first, I couldn’t run more than a few miles without feeling completely exhausted.

Over the years, running has become my therapy. It’s helped me manage anxiety, process loss, and develop resilience in ways I never imagined. With every mile, I’ve grown stronger, mentally and physically, and running has become a central part of who I am. Through this journey, I’ve completed two marathons. Now I’m chasing a dream that has been years in the making: earning my first World Marathon Major star at the Sydney Marathon.

This dream isn’t just about me. I want to raise enough money to bring my mom and my brother with me on this trip. This year's race is extra special. This year, the main marathon fundraiser for Sydney is Running for Premature Babies, which resonates deeply with me and my family's story. My twin brother and I were born three months early. We faced so much when we were babies and wouldn't be here today if it weren't for our amazing doctors.

Your support will help cover flights, hotels, and travel expenses for me and my family, turning this dream into a reality. Every donation, big or small, brings us closer to Sydney and allows me to share my journey with my loved ones by my side. I’ll be posting updates along the way, from training miles to race day photos, so donors can follow along and celebrate every step of this journey with me.

Running has taught me the power of perseverance, the importance of hope, and the strength of community. With your help, I can turn a personal dream into a shared experience, honor my dad’s memory, celebrate my family, and inspire others facing mental health challenges to find their own path forward.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Every contribution matters, and together, we can make this marathon, this family trip, and this dream unforgettable.
