My Travel Story

Hi!! I'm graduting from nursing school this coming May, and I have always felt called to serve in the medical field. Through my BSN program, I had the opportunity to volunteer in a hospital and at a children's home in Kenya this past fall. This wonderful experience opened my eyes to the volunteer need of various other countries and the deep desire in my heart to work to meet that need. I plan to cheerfully and joyfully participate in any available service opportunities in the area when I arrive, including using my nursing skills to offer medical care to low-income families in Cusco. Volunteering in Peru stood out to me partly because I have spent much of my time throughout school learning Spanish, so I believe that I'll be able to confidently interact with patients and other people in the community. I have even taken a focused medical Spanish course, so this skill will aid me well in providing care to patients and locals in the area. I also want to learn more about Peruvian culture.
