 Jayawardenepura School club Chess Team's Bangkok Tournament

The Jayawardenepura School, a small but high-potential institution in Kotte, needs your support. Fifteen gifted students and their teachers are preparing for an exciting and formative adventure: a four-day training camp in Bangkok, Thailand, in July 30th to Aug 2nd. This trip is crucial as a rehearsal for a major tournament in December. (1st to 11th)
Jayawardenepura School is dedicated to nurturing gifted children, many of whom face challenges in traditional educational systems. Our goal is to develop autonomy, creativity, and internal motivation in our students, allowing them to joyfully reach their full academic potential.
Chess has been an integral part of our pedagogy for several years. It engages the mind, fosters creativity, teaches patience, and instills respect for opponents. Supported by the Makopolo Chess Club, our students regularly excel in individual departmental and regional championships.
For the first time, our students formed a team and won the departmental championships in the district. They then triumphed in the Provincial championships, securing their place in the final phase with five victories in five games.

Why We Need Your Help:
As a small school with around ninety students and limited resources, financing this trip is a significant challenge. The funds are needed for:
- Air Tickets:   Ensuring safe and comfortable travel for the team.
- Accommodation:   Providing a secure and comfortable stay in Bangkok.
- Official Jerseys:   Equipping the team with official jerseys for the training camp and tournament.
- Other Expenses:  Covering additional costs such as food, local transportation, and training materials.
