My Travel Story

From May 20th through June 2nd I have the opportunity to travel to Prague on a summer seminar with my school, WSU. For two weeks I will be calling Pinelli Hotel, Residence Bologna located in the heart of Old Town home. We will be exploring the city, visiting many libraries, and museums.

For those of you that know me, you know that becoming a librarian has been a goal of mine for a long time, and this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to explore, learn, and increase my library experience while earning college credit. I will attend lectures and tours related to librarianship in a country that deals with a history of monarchy, empire, Communism, and the meeting of east and west. I will get to experience firsthand how the democratization of the Czech Republic, formerly a communist state, has affected the accessibility of information.  

Next year is my final year of my graduate degree and I am so excited and grateful to be going on this trip at this pivotal time in my studies. Most of my work is based in the meeting of social justice and librarianship so I am hoping that I will be inspired by my travels to Prague. I am looking forward to this cross-cultural experience to help motivate and influence my thesis and professional  work.  

Unfortunately, I am still shy of what I need for this study abroad course. Please help me round out the funding needed for this once-in-a-lifetime experience!
