My Travel Story

by: Bastien Duparchy Start Date: Feb 4, 2018 - End Date: Nov 3, 2018
Dear all,
My name is Bastien and I'm volunteering in Malaysia. During one year I will be teaching english to an Orang Asli tribe in Kampung Kemar (jungle tribe). More than being a teacher, I am developing projects with them to make them aware about the environment, cultural varieties, educational opportunities and so on.

My plan is the following one: I would like to give to some of them the opportunity to travel and to discover new cultures, practice their English and have a international experience for the first time of their life.

You might wonder "why should I help this project rather than another one"?

- this is not a personal travel desire. I'm doing this in order to help an underserved community to open up to the world, give them more tools and teach them how to use it.
- 2 years ago I co-managed a youth exchange for people with special needs between 3 countries. We would gather 30 people in Spain and have 1 week activities about cultural awareness, various workshops etc. Now, I am fully aware of the challenges such a trip represents, how to overcome them and how to be prepared.
- Later on, a full program will be established and I will be able to share with you all the details about the trip planed (detail schedule of the journey) so you can follow the program!
- A detail financial need will be given for you to know where exactly the money goes and what we use it for. I wanna make sure you can follow up the advancement of the project. Your trust is the most important gift you give us. We will take good care of it.

Teaching english to Indigenous people is a beautiful gift... Their pureness and beauty is unbelievable. Together we're exchanging knowledges and I do my best to deliver the best lessons ever. I would be glad if we can end up this adventure with a travel abroad together to make and share more incredible memories.

To introduce my self further more, I'm French, I'm a world traveler and I've passed my last 3 years volunteering around the glob. I've always been willing to enrich myself, first to get to know myself  better and later in order to help people around of me. Life has brought me many incredible stories and experiences, not always easy but for sure very thoughtful and formative. I'm really thankful for that.

Together I believe we can have a bigger impact on those people's life. Together I believe we can make dreams become true. Together we can do the impossible.

P.S: the 3 pictures attached are pictures of Orang Asli I'm living with.

Thanks a lot for your time and for your attention,

Sincerely and friendly yours,

Bastien Duparchy.

We have started to build a bamboo shelter for the street dogs living around the jungle.

This weekend went to the jungle looking for natural materials to build the roof of the shelter! everybody took part of it :)
