My Travel Story

by: Asanka Senarth Start Date: Nov 26, 2024 - End Date: Mar 25, 2025

My name is Mamudou, and I am from The Gambia, a small and underprivileged country where opportunities are scarce. I live with my younger siblings, and together, we face significant challenges every day.

We lost our parents when we were very young. Since then, our grandmother—who was a true pillar of strength—took care of us. She provided everything she could with the little she had, even into her old age. Sadly, she passed away recently at the incredible age of 104. Her passing has left us not only heartbroken but also struggling to survive without her guidance and support.

There are very few job opportunities here, and I have been doing everything I can to take care of my siblings. Life is incredibly difficult, and we often go without enough food or basic necessities.

I am reaching out to you with a humble plea for assistance. Any help, no matter how small, would make a huge difference in our lives. Your generosity would allow us to secure food and find a way to stay safe and hopeful during this difficult time.

As it is said, “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward them for what they have done.” We bow down in gratitude and ask for your kindness to help us through these trying days.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story. May your compassion be rewarded abundantly.

Yours sincerely,
Mamudou
