Hello everyone,

Since today is world mental health day, I take this opportunity to introduce you to SLV Global.

In February 2020 I will be embarking on a Mental Health Placement in Bali with SLV. This organization works to help those suffering from mental health problems in Bali.

At the same time, it allows me to a great experience, a good inside, and helps me develop skills in the clinical field of psychology. The goal is to promote positive mental health with help from volunteers around the world.
In Bali only 2% of the national budget was allocated to mental health. This means that many provinces are without hospitals, and in general there is a severe lack of psychiatrists. Many people go left untreated and suffering from psychological conditions.

During my time in Bali, I will gain over 40 hours of hand-on work experience and I will be able to help individuals with mental health problems. This is done through using knowledge of psychology as well as causes and treatments.
The team and myself will run projects with local service users in clinical settings, the local community, schools and psychiatric hospitals.

Our typical day over the 4 weeks include workshops, projects and interactive activities as well as integration to encourage acceptance and exploration of emotions. The main focus of the projects is to promote positive mental health. We boost confidence, self-esteem and improving key life skills.
We are all aware that today mental health is becoming a much more openly discussed topic, but sadly there is still a stigma surrounding those suffering from mental health and an under-resourced mental health sector in cultures such as Bali.

The money raised will go towards :
  • The SLV.Global mental health fund.
  • The cost of the training that is required to work closely with vulnerable individuals
  • The project resources that are necessary to carry out these workshops

Thank you for anything given, any donation big or small is welcomed. I’m so grateful for this opportunity.
