My Travel Story

by: Griselda Garcia Start Date: Mar 23, 2025 - End Date: Jul 22, 2025
Hello, everyone. I am Griselda Garcia, a student at Palomar College. I will be traveling to Arles, France, this summer to study abroad. I am reaching out for your support and help with costs.

About Me
I am a first-generation Palomar College student studying photojournalism. I plan to transfer to San Francisco State University. I have been the photo editor for Palomar's student-run newspaper for two semesters. This community has made me passionate about telling stories through writing and photography. I am a photo editor for the newspaper and hope to improve my skills through my study abroad program.

About the Program
This program allows students to pursue journalism in a fun and engaging way. I first heard about it from my journalism professor. It would be an excellent opportunity to travel while learning to be a better journalist. It allows journalism students to experience creating stories, capturing life outside their comfort zones, and building relationships with the people they meet. This program will enhance my journalistic skills by teaching me to capture impactful images and write stories that inform readers. It will help me improve my journalistic skills and provide the experience I need for my future. Another thing that interests me about this program is its publication. With every project, students will get to write stories, take photos, and have their work published.

Why France?
My dream job is to be a photojournalist who captures nature, wildlife, and culture. Going to France is an opportunity I am grateful to be a part of because the country has different aspects of life, art, wildlife, and entertainment. Learning in a different country will introduce me to other storytelling perspectives. I picked this host country because I have always wanted to travel to France. I have always wanted to learn the language, culture, and environment. Living and studying in France will allow me to immerse myself in the country's history, art, and cuisine. France has several events and festivals that teach me about the traditions and holidays people celebrate. Studying abroad will be a great way to meet new people and participate in activities outside my studies.

It has always been my dream to travel to France, and this trip will allow me to make that dream come true while studying for a career I am passionate about.

Thank you for your consideration in supporting my trip.
