My Travel Story

My name is Marcia and I am a Public Health Certified Dental Hygienist from New Hampshire, USA. In February of 2025, I will be traveling to Guatemala through IVHQ to provide dental care to the people in the surrounding communities of Antigua.

I have 15 years of clinical dental hygiene experience and I have a strong passion for my profession. I hold strong in my belief of the importance of giving back to my community and access to dental care for all. I have been a part of several volunteer and public health events throughout my career. Some of the events I have been a part of include oral health screenings at my local Special Olympics, oral health education at local schools, several events dedicated to the dental care for our military veterans who are unable to get care at the Veteran’s Administration and several events providing care to low income, underinsured and HIV positive patients through the Ryan White foundation of NH. I am currently working with an organization to help increase access to dental care for individuals experiencing homelessness in my community.

In my spare time, I enjoy traveling. Most of my travel has been in Central America and the Caribbean Islands. On these trips, I often noticed the poverty and lack of access to care. I have always had a personal and professional goal of helping these countries that have so graciously hosted me. I am blessed to have a skill that can help others. I would like to use it. All funds raised will go directly to pay for fees, supplies and travel for my volunteer trip. Thank you for your support.
